Abstract

The levels of Qur’anic discourse are numerous, all aiming to convey meanings to the recipient through the Qur’anic text, which is a discourse with multiple aspects and possibilities, whether from a religious or worldly perspective.

God Almighty expressed this discourse through a set of sentences that appear in the short surahs, and these surahs have various general and specific topics, which we cannot mention all here due to space constraints. However, we decided that the title of this research would be “Sentences That Have a Syntactic Position in the Short Surahs.”

We began with an introduction, then divided the research into two sections. In the first section, we discussed the sentence in general, that is, its definition according to both ancient and modern grammarians, their detailed discussions on the matter, and whether, in their view, there is agreement or disagreement between the term’s “speech” and “sentence.” We also discussed the types of sentences from various perspectives.

After that came the second section, which included the practical aspect, namely the parsing of sentences that have a syntactic position in the short surahs. We elaborated on this and mentioned different opinions of grammarians and interpreters regarding various aspects.

Then came the conclusion, which included the most important results of this research, followed by the list of sources and references we relied upon.
