Abstract

The study aims to identify the effectiveness of the Generative Learning Model in acquiring physics concepts and developing probing thinking among fourth –grade scientific branch students. To achieve the study's objectives، an experimental approach is employed using two groups (experimental and control). The sample size consists of (70) students، (36) students in the experimental group and (34) in the control group. The experimental group is taught according to the Generative Learning model، while the control group is taught using the conventional method. The research instruments consist of a physics concepts acquisition test comprising (30) items and a probing thinking scale consisting of (45) items. After applying the research instruments and utilizing statistical methods 9t-test for two unequal independent samples and Cohens d formula for measuring effect size)، the results indicate a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the physics concepts acquisition test as a while،in favor of the experimental group . The independent variable shows a (large) effect size for the overall test and for the levels of (comprehension، application، analysis، synthesis and evaluation)، while a (small) effect size was recorded for the knowledge (recall) level. furthermore، the results reveal a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the probing thinking scale، in favor of the experimental group. A (large) effect size for the independent variable is observed in the probing thinking scale as a whole and the domains of (concept comprehension and information interpretation) While a (medium) effect size was found in the domain of (application of principles). The results also indicate a positive correlation with a (high) confidence level between the physics concepts acquisition test and the probing thinking scale among the experimental group students، while a positive but (weak confidence level correlation was found among the control group students
