Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement Guidelines

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The ethical policy of Nanar Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences is based on the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is consistent with internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to these ethical guidelines.

Procedures for Handling Ethical Violations

Once Nanar Journal confirms a violation of publication ethics, the journal addresses the issue seriously and follows procedures appropriate to the nature and severity of the violation:

  1. The editor initially informs the Editorial Board, providing copies of the relevant materials and a draft letter requesting clarification from the corresponding author in a non-judgmental manner.

  2. If the author’s explanation is unsatisfactory and serious unethical behavior is suspected, the case is referred to the Publishing Committee through the Editorial Board. The Committee determines whether the violation warrants sanctions, including a ban on future submissions.

  3. In cases of minor violations, the editor—based on the Committee’s advice—may issue a formal warning. If the article has already been published, the author may be required to publish a correction or apology.

  4. All correspondence is directed to the responsible author. Any further submissions from authors found responsible for ethical violations may be rejected.

  5. Authors involved in ethical misconduct may be prohibited from serving as editorial board members or reviewers.

  6. In severe cases, the journal may notify the authors’ affiliated institutions and impose a submission ban of up to five (5) years.

  7. In cases of serious fraud requiring retraction, a retraction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article in the online version, clearly marked with the date of withdrawal.
