Abstract

Dramaturgy is one of the changing terms whose definition and concept change over the ages. Because theater is an art that includes several functions, dramaturgy has found a fair share among theater makers. Because the writer and director (Awatif Naeem) embodied this dramaturgical function through her work on international texts and others that she composed, she was able to prepare these texts directly for the stage, which distances them from the literary character. Therefore, the research contained four chapters. The first chapter included the methodological framework, as it contained the research problem, which was asked: What is the directorial dramaturgy of Awatif Naeem? The chapter also included the importance of the research, the need for it, the aim of the research, the temporal (1996-2022), spatial (Iraq/Baghdad) and objective limits of the research, in addition to defining some of the terms mentioned in the title. The second chapter included the theoretical framework and two sections. The first section was about dramaturgy: the formative basis and global work. The second section included the intellectual and artistic references of director Awatif Naim. This chapter concluded with a set of indicators. The third chapter is the procedural framework that included the research community, which included nineteen plays directed by Awatif Naim. The chapter also included the research sample, which was represented by three plays that came in different time periods, namely (Fok play, Doves' Madness play, and My Face play). The chapter also included the research tool and research methodology, which is the descriptive analytical method. The fourth chapter included the research results and conclusions of the most important findings that the researcher reached in understanding the work of the term directing dramaturgy by Awatif Naim. The research was concluded with a list of sources and references.
