Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart Depicts a Tragic Portrayal of Nationality and Postcolonial Cultural Hegemony
Abstract
This research presents a traumatizing image of the African clans under British colonialism as described by Chinua Achebe. These colonial powers used the indigenous Africans for their selfish ends, wiping out their religion, culture and customs in the guise of the white people's humanitarian goal. This research looks at how European settlers created a cultural hegemony around the indigenous people in order to dominate them without using military force. The study concluded that a binary cultural hegemony exhibits both acceptance and opposition to the domination of white men.
